Home | Information | Take a walk to the wonderful Filey Beach!

One of the great things about staying on The Bay Resort is having footpath access onto the stunning beach at Filey.

As you walk down, you will also be treated to breathtaking views, whichever path you choose.

Seabirds path to the beach

This is the most popular way to get to the beach from The Bay Resort. It is a concrete path so good for those with pushchairs, bikes and beach trolleys.

The path goes from the Bay along the cliff top (with caravans to one side) and then down past a lake. It is steep at the bottom but has been improved (May 2024) to give easy access onto the beach for pushchairs, and pedestrians. Those on scooters, bikes or roller skates should slow down towards the final bend where it does get steep!

The walk is around a 10-15 stroll down once you leave the resort, and on the way back, rest up near the lake on a bench or on the grass.

Once on the beach, there’s plenty of space to relax, play cricket, run with the dog, or take a walk. Turn left and it’s around 30 minutes into Filey town. Turn right and it’s about 5-10 mins to Hunmanby Gap and the famous Beach Cafe. Carry on further and you’ll reach Reighton Sands!

This path starts at the end of Silversands Way. Follow the signs from the village centre round the pub (Turnberry Drive) and then onto Silversands Way.

King Charles III path to Hunmanby Gap

This is a new footpath which is through woodland and then emerges onto the cliff top. Care must be taken on this path as it is quite uneven, can be muddy in wet weather and is quite narrow in places. But it does give you some of the best views of Filey bay, and the option to stop at Hunmanby Gap for a drink or food at The Beach Cafe, on continue along the coastal path to Bempton for the seabirds as RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

This footpath starts from behind the house at 37 Sunrise Drive. There is a little wooden sign and a gate in the fence behind the house at the start of the path.

Houses within a minute or two of this path are Seaside Cottage, Sea Esta Cottage, Puffin’s Nest, Anchors Away, Seahorse Lodge, Prospect Lodge, Bay Tree House and Pebble Place.

King Charles III path to Filey

This path takes you through Primrose Valley and across the cliff tops into Filey (arriving near Glen Gardens). Just follow the coastal footpath signs from the Seabirds path to the beach. Or visit the Interactive Map for the footpath where there will be updates on accessibility too.

The map of all our properties shows where the Seabirds and King Charles III path to Hunmanby Gap start. Happy walking!
